This Privacy Policy explains what personal data LingoScript ("we", "us") collects when you use our transcription and translation service, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].
1. Data we collect
- Account data — email address, hashed password, and profile information you provide. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth.
- Content you upload — audio/video files, YouTube URLs you submit, transcripts and translations generated from them.
- Usage data — minutes transcribed, characters translated, plan tier, timestamps. Used to enforce quotas and improve the service.
- Technical data — IP address, browser/user-agent, request logs. Used for security, abuse prevention, and rate limiting.
2. How we use your data
- To provide the transcription, translation, and account features you request.
- To enforce plan limits and prevent abuse.
- To communicate service-related notices (e.g. password resets).
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Third-party processors
We send the audio/video content of your transcription requests to AI providers in order to produce a transcript or translation. These providers may include:
- OpenAI (Whisper) — speech-to-text.
- ElevenLabs — speech-to-text.
- DeepSeek, OpenAI, Google (Gemini) — translation.
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Bunny CDN — file storage and delivery.
- Redis — job queue and rate limiting (operated by us).
If you supply your own API keys in Settings, requests for that provider go directly from our servers using your key, and that provider's privacy terms apply.
4. Data retention
Transcripts and translations remain in your account until you delete them or close your account. Uploaded media files in Bunny CDN are retained while linked to an active transcription. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days for debugging and security purposes.
5. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to restrict or object to processing. You can exercise these rights from the Settings page or by emailing us. Account deletion removes your account, transcripts, translations, and uploaded files within 30 days.
6. Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on infrastructure protected by industry- standard controls. No system is perfectly secure, however, so we encourage you to use a unique strong password and to be cautious about uploading sensitive content.
7. Children
LingoScript is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified by email or via the application. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
